Midway Artist Studios
The Incubator is hosted within the Midway Artist Studios.
Midway Artist Studios is unique as the largest artist rental building in Boston and provides artists at all stages of their career a place to work and live in Boston. Midway supports artists on all levels, from providing affordable studios, to encouraging the flow of ideas and skills between disciplines and generations. Through the proximity of artists practicing diverse disciplines, new collaborations, learning, ideas, organizations and opportunities can be generated; supporting the creation of work that otherwise might not have been created.
Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture
The Incubator is funded in part through the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture.
The Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture enhances the quality of life, the economy, and the design of the City through the arts. The role of the arts in all aspects of life in Boston is reinforced via equitable access to arts and culture in every community, its public institutions, and public places.
Key areas of work include support to the cultural sector through grants and programs, as well as the production and permitting of art in public places.
The Boston Foundation
The Incubator is funded in part through The Boston Foundation, Arts and Culture.
Our stated vision for the Arts and Culture Impact Area is to use the arts as a connector for all voices, communities and sectors to elevate the vibrancy, vitality, fabric and texture of city life and to lessen perceived and actual barriers and divides- social, economic, racial and physical. We believe relevant, ambitious, culturally competent art fosters a necessary exchange of ideas and perspectives for a healthy, progressive city and region.

The Incubator is funded in part through The Barr Foundation, Arts & Creativity.
Great art transforms the way we engage with the world. It brings beauty into our lives. Through creativity we can transcend conventions and generate new ideas, alternatives, and possibilities. Arts and creativity have the power to connect us with each other, to help us understand our dynamic environment, and to imagine new, better, different futures. Against a backdrop of rapidly changing demographics, technological advancements, and evolving art forms, Barr’s Arts & Creativity program seeks to invest in bold ideas and leaders. Our overarching goal is to elevate the arts and enable creative expression to engage and inspire a dynamic, thriving Massachusetts.
The Record Co.
The Incubator is building our space partnerships, with the first being The Record Co. (TRC).
TRC is a nonprofit dedicated to making space for Boston’s music makers. We believe in the power of music creation to bring people together and build a shared understanding across differences. We exist to make sure that no matter who you are, no matter why you make music, you can keep making.
